PARTNERS – Platform adaptive randomized trial for new and repurposed Filovirus treatments – Core Trial Protocol
Overview
The PARTNERS trial is the WHO sponsored international adaptive
platform trial evaluating new and repurposed therapeutics for filovirus
diseases, including Ebola and Marburg virus disease. The study aims to rapidly
generate high-quality evidence on the safety and efficacy of promising
treatments during outbreaks, while embedding research within frontline outbreak
response activities. Demonstration of safety and efficacy of potential
treatments in a trial, allows these drugs to become licensed, and made widely
available to patients who may need them.
PARTNERS is conducted through close collaboration between
national health authorities, research institutions, outbreak response partners,
and international organizations. The protocol is designed to allow flexibility
across different viruses, countries, and treatment strategies, enabling rapid
adaptation as outbreaks evolve and new therapeutic candidates emerge.
