Eliminating onchocerciasis requires reliable blackfly surveillance, yet current methods are not suitable in all settings. This webinar will introduce a research and evidence-generation agenda for strengthening blackfly surveillance for onchocerciasis endgame decision-making, developed through expert consultation and evidence review. It will highlight four priority areas: safer collection methods, improved and calibrated alternative tools, better diagnostics and species identification, and refined entomological thresholds. Country experiences will illustrate how these priorities relate to practical surveillance challenges and programme decision-making.
